The original Snidely Whiplash appeared opposite Dudley Do-Right of the Canadian Mounties on the hit animated series "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show." Snidely was notorious for, among other dastardly deeds, tying sweet, innocent "Nell" to the railroad tracks (see below). The name "Snidely Whiplash" became synonymous with "tacky, rude and vulgar" behavior - much like that associated with, well, people playing in rock 'n' roll bands...
